Step Four - Rotation Mechanism Integration

In this step, the rotation mechanism is integrated into LegoKara. The rotation mechanism enables Legokara to have an "all-around view", hence it is able to recognise sidewise walls.

Construction Manual

First, we put a punched P2x6 on top of an unpunched P2x6. On top of each edge of the punched P2x6 we add a S1x2. Furthermore, three S1x6 are mounted on top of one another.

Now that all the elements have been prepared as shown in the picture above, the B1x6 is put on top of one of the punched P2x6. Then, the two joint slabs are set next to B1x6 and finally the three element combination is assembled such that we get the structure shown. To facilitate the rotation mechanism, a cogwheel Z24 is fixated to a beam S0x4 and the whole is slid through the uttermost hole of a B1x4 in order to mount the shaft M4 on the rod.

All beams are installed on the construction base (see above), such that the cogwheel is directed to the front. The cover ("Deckel") is made as follows: To the punched slab P2x8, a S1x2 is attached to the second hole from the edge. Then a rod S0x6, a M9 and a cogwheel Z24 are fixated. The whole construction is slid through the central hole of slab P2x8. After having done these things, a cogwheel Z8 and a M9 are fixated to the bottom side of the rod.

All the elements constructed so far are put on top of the whole structure. Furthermore, twice two rods S1x8 are plugged on top of each other.

Now the rotation mechanism is complete.

The rotation mechanism is stuck as illustrated on LegoKara's chassis. Next, the engine, responsible for making the rotation mechanism work, is prepared. A cogwheel Z8 is mounted, a short wire and twice two S1x2 are fixated to the top side of the engine.

Finally, the engine is installed into the designated place. The fourth step has now been completed successfully, too.
