Monroeville - Schoolhouse
The old grammar school where Ms. Lee attended grades 5 and 6. It was originally built for grades 7 - 12, but was used for elementary grades after the high school students were moved to a new high school in 1936 The new high school was built in 1936, about four blocks from the other schools. Harper Lee graduated from this school in 1944. Teacher Mary Roberts is shown in a typical Monroeville classroom in the 1940s.
