Life around the glacier
Pasterze is located within the «Nationalpark Hohe Tauern». The land around the glacier thus is a haven for wildlife.

A bone, probably from the foreleg of a chamois, found on the glacier proves that animals cross the ice and sometimes perish on the glacier.
