Archived images from the Stromboli Livecam 2000

When you watch Stromboli using the Stromboli INGV Live Cam all sorts of things may happen. The selection below may give you a taste of what is possible. The captions are somewhat less scientifically serious than is usually the case on Stromboli on-line. Please bear with us ;-)

Christmas 2000

August 2000 - December 2000

And now «science» (Jürg taking video of C3, ash above his head...)

Before window cleaning... (Jürg in background)
So-called «Brocken». Even though this may not seem a spectacular image, it is a unique. You see a bright patch around the antisolar point caused by backscatter of sunlight from tiny water droplets in the thin fog. We are amazed at the great variety of atmospheric effects visible with the LiveCam. Who catches the first rainbow? ;-)
Impressive ash eruption at C3
Huge spatter? (No, just ash on the Livecam window). Note ash eruption at C3.
