- Short stories, which were not to be published until 2060, have for a short period appeared on the Interet. Salinger scholar Kenneth Slawenski has confirmed that they are truly Salinger's unpublished stories.
The Ocean Full of Bowling Balls is thought to be a form of prequel to The Catcher in the Rye. It has so far been available to read under supervision at Princeton Library, US.
Paula, and Birthday Boy, were available to read at the University of Texas's Harry Ransom Centre, US.
