Musical - Lost in the Stars, 1949
- In 1949 the musical "Lost in the Stars", based on "Cry, the Beloved Country," opened on Broadway. Music by Kurt Weill, book and lyrics by Maxwell Anderson. In 1992 USA TODAY wrote, "Kurt Weill's 1949 musical about apartheid in South Africa remains one of the most achingly lyrical scores in Broadway history."
