Longyearbyen, 'capital' of Svalbard. Most of the buildings have been built late in the 20th Century. Note how the flood plain in the foreground, of the river issuing from a small glacier at the head of the valley to the right, is kept clear of buildings. The small black 'crosses' apparently superimposed on the plain represent a flock of little auks.
