Crescentic gouge

A crescent-shaped scallop, usually several centimetres across, formed as a result of bedrock fracture under moving ice.

Crescentic gouge on dolerite bedrock beneath glacial sediments known as the Sirius Group, Roberts Massif, Transantarctic Mountains. Ice flow was from left to right.
