Etna Paroxysm 28 February 2013

In the morning of 28 February 2013, Etna's new South-East Cone underwent its 6th paroxysm of a sequence which had started nine days earlier. Marco filmed this one from a distance of only one km towards the south. The strength of the eruption sent a multiple lava fountain about 1km above the erupting fissure, while a convective column rose many kms in the sky. The updraft caused a very strong wind towards the crater, so that Marco found himself in the middle of a snow storm which is apparent in some of the clips. All videos were filmed with a Nikon D7000 camera. The full-HD movies were compressed to MP4 files. Scroll down to see all six clips.
